Giving a new gift to the countrymen, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the scheme ‘PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme’ (PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana), providing free electricity up to 300 units every month. PM Modi discussed this scheme on the social media site ‘X’.

How to apply PM Surya Ghar Yojana:

For applying for the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, applicants are required to follow the instructions carefully which are given below –

  • Visit the official website “”.
  • Start the registration Process.
  • Choose your state and electricity distribution company.
  • Enter the electricity customer number, your e-mail ID, and your mobile number.
  • Login in with your mobile number of mobile and customer number and then apply to the rooftop solar.
  • Once this is approved, you can get the plan installed through the registered vendors in your DISCOM.
  • Once the above is done, submit the information of the plant and apply for a net meter.
  • After the installation of net meters and inspection by DISCOM is completed, you can get your commissioning certificate generated from the portal.
  • After the commissioning report, submit your bank account details and a canceled cheque with the portal.
  • Finally, you will get your subsidy in your bank account within 30 days.

Eligibility For PM Surya Ghar Yojana:

If you are a citizen of India and you want to get free electricity facility under PM Surya Ghar Yojana 2024, then you should have some eligibility for this. Please note that only permanent residents of India can apply for this scheme. Apart from this, the annual income of the applicant’s family should be less than Rs 150,000.

  • Indian Citizen: Open to all Indian citizens.
  • Income Bracket: Likely targeted towards individuals with an annual income between ₹1 lakh and ₹1.50 lakh (subject to change).
  • Government Jobs/Taxpayer: Excludes individuals with government jobs or those filing income tax returns.
